Traveling is in my blood

Updated: Jun 23

I grew up on an airplane. From the time I could remember, I was in a seat on a plane, always next to the window. My mom started flying (as a flight attendant) in the early 1960's and as a kid, I remember walking up and down the aisle helping her collect passenger trash, sitting in the cockpit at the gate, even talking on the announcement speaker. (Of course, this was before strict rules and security were put into place). Over the years, her job awarded her many travel privilege's which ultimately trickled down to me at an early age.

As I got older, I began to truly take advantage of the idea that "The World is your Oyster" and grasped onto any travel opportunity that came my way. In college, I opted to study French Language and Culture as one of my two majors. The language department at the school offered various study abroad programs and I jumped at it without hesitation. During a semester abroad in my Junior year to Angers, France we managed to not only make the most out of our time in France, but also visited quite a few cities along the way including Munich, Vienna, Budapest, Zurich, Barcelona, and Venice. How we did this at 20 years old while broke and a bit clueless? I still don't know. But minds couldn't be stopped. I went on to travel to several more places before graduating including London, Dubai, Rome, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and Nice.

After graduating, I applied and was accepted into a teaching assistant program in Nice, France and it changed my life forever. I was there for a year, met SO many people and had such an enriching experience. What followed was an additional two years living in The Netherlands to study for my MBA and then eventually back to the south of France for another 7 years.

Fast forward 11 years into the future - 2024 - and here we are, back in Boston. At first, it was a hard pill to swallow. But I truly believe everything happens for a reason. I've pined for France over the years and have been back only a couple of times in the past decade. So now it's time. I'm bringing my kiddos with me and we are going to explore the region I love so much! I hope you'll enjoy reading about our upcoming adventures as much as I love writing about them.
