Villa Rothschild & Saint -Jean-Cap-Ferrat

Writer's picture: SarahSarah

I have a couple of beach rats. My kiddos LOVE to swim in any kind of water. We've been to the beach countless times since being in France and going to the pool at our apartment complex is part of our daily routine. It's hot here so having these options is great.

While friends were visiting, we decided to try a beach we haven't been to located in St. Jean Cap Ferrat called "Plage Passable." St Jean Cap Ferrat is east of Nice on your way to Monaco. It's not very big and weaves its way around the mountainous topography of the region. It is known for it's large and expensive homes and the very wealthy have been known to live and vacation here. Matisse, Chagall and Picasso were all known to be regulars here.

I spent most of my time sitting under the umbrella, listening to music and just taking it all in.

Of course my water rats spent most of the time in the water and jumping off this little ledge into the sea. They love jumping off things, apparently.

We spent several hours there and as the afternoon sun really started showing through, we decided to pack up and head over to Villa Rothschild, also located in St. Jean Cap Ferrat. The villa is an early 20th century mansion overlooking the Mediterranean. It has 9 themed gardens that you can walk through with breathtaking views of the Med.

They have a restaurant on site and as we were hot and hungry, we decided to stop in for lunch.

After lunch, we decided to walk around the gardens and enjoy the property. It was super beautiful. Lots of photo ops!

They also had a fountain show timed to music while we were walking around. This is kind of common in France when you visit villas or chateaus and such. We've also seen one at the Palace of Versailles in Paris.

Look at how gorgeous THIS is. I took this video while walking down some steps towards a tremendous view of the Med.

Of course, Hayden has to be silly.

And I think this is my favorite picture of all. Harper stopping to smell the flowers with her stuffed puppy, Leo.

La vie est belle.
