Wanderlust

Wanderlust is a funny word. It's a concept that might be unfamiliar to some. For me, it defines my existence to an extent. And it's been latent for the better part of 12 years, until recently.

Someone inflicted with wanderlust has "A strong desire to travel" and it's synonyms include "restlessness, itchy feet, urge to travel, unsettledness". They have a very strong desire or irresistible impulse to wander and explore the world.

The name, "Adventures in Wanderlust" reminds me of "Alice in Wonderland". In the story, Alice experiences a series of events which symbolize a process of self discovery, as she travels through Wonderland. For her, Wonderland is a place of great beauty and strangeness, full of wonderful things.

When I was young, I figure skated for several years. One of the costumes I wore for a show was based on Alice; a blue dress, white apron, black headband with my blonde hair. At the time, the relevance was lost on me. But I can't help but make the connection now, looking back. Perhaps I've been Alice all along and the world has always been my Wonderland.
