What a spectacular 24 hours we had in Provence. We drove two hours north to the Plateau of Valensole to see the lavender fields. We decided since it was kind of a long drive, that we would stay overnight and come back to Valbonne the next day. I did a little research and stumbled across a little French village called Manosque so we decided to stay there for the evening. We really did make the best of our time there!
Before checking into our apartment, we decided to find some lunch. There happened to be what appeared to be an Italian restaurant nearby - so off we went! Well, the restaurant was no longer open for lunch but there was a small snack stand with paninis and sandwiches. And it was located right on a lake! This was surprising as we did NOT expect to find a lake in the middle of the French countryside. And it just so happened that there were all kinds of water activities including paddleboarding, ziplining, boats, and a full inflatable obstacle course. The kids were STOKED! It was honestly so fun.
So, after our afternoon at the lake, we decided to find our apartment and get checked in. It ended up that the apartment was located in the city center of old Manosque so there were shops and restaurants all within walking distance. SCORE!
With some additional research, I found a local Provençal restaurant for dinner that night and it happened to be one of the best meals I've had - ever.
